Bart was born February 18, 1974 in Decatur, Alabama. He grew up in church, but it was just something you did growing up in the Bible belt. On September 1st 2001, Bart committed his life to Jesus, and began serving the Lord at his home church, Westmeade Baptist Church. In 2004, Bart felt that the Lord was calling him into ministry, and in 2007 he became the bi-vocational youth minister at Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Mt. Hope, Alabama. Bart had served at Mt. Hope Baptist for five years when he felt that God was calling him into full-time ministry. He served as an interim youth minister at Westmeade Baptist and at Pleasant Hill Baptist in Decatur before being called to Shenandoah Baptist Church. In 2013, Bart and the family packed up and headed west for Austin, Texas to begin serving full-time at Shenandoah.
Bart married his wife Tina in April of 1998. They have three children: Maddie, Kingston, and Sara Whitten. Some of his hobbies include movies and college football.
